Comment on Best Buy = Poor Customer Service by Mark

Best Buy may have the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Bought a phone from them a few months ago. Last Tuesday I went in for a car charger for it. Best Buy expert showed me which one to buy. I went out to my car & plugged it in, rode home for 15 minutes & picked up the phone, which was hot to the touch. Turned phone on & it was completely drained. Took it into my house & charged it up again but phone was still hot & not holding a long charge.

Went back to Best Buy & after explaining situation was told the charger was faulty & they switched it out. Headed out, plugged it in & it did the exact same thing. I think it has fried my battery. Got the run around, why I didn't buy the freaking extended warranty, etc.

Explained to them that the phone was 3 months old. Then explained that it was the crappy charger that had fried my battery. Talked to an 18 year old kid, who then patched me through to the supposed manager, who I later find out wasn't when I talked to the district manager. Didn't matter, as none of them wanted to accept the responsibility that the item they had recommended was the root of the problem. After asking for the District Managers Supervisor I was told that they did not give out phone numbers. I then asked for an email which was also not possible. Finally they gave me an address that I could write a letter of complaint to. I think I'll pass, I've already seen Best Buy's customer service at it's best.

They pulled up my account & had to see that we had spent a ton with them over the last year, but still wouldn't budge on replacing a battery that probably would cost them $10. I calmly explained that is why I would now be buying all my electronics from Costco in the future.

What Elizabeth said...

You are who you are (filled with awesomeness by the way). Be that. You'll enjoy writing more, which means you'll do it more. And that's a good thing...

(Thanks for the mention!)

Thanks Elizabeth! I agree that if someone finds my writing inappropriate we probably wont be a good match to work together anyway.

Aw, thanks for the shout-out! And I appreciate you reading my blog.

I think finding your voice in your writing is one of the hardest parts about blogging. I know that when I decided to really buckle down and write my blog, I had to commit to my voice and know that not everyone was going to like it. And that is OK. If people don't like my sense of humor or find me inappropriate in my writing, then we're probably not going to be a good fit agent/client-wise either.

The other thing is, I know that people think if your writing is on the honest side, that you don't have a filter, but even the most honest writers are using a filter. My filter is that I don't write anything I wouldn't want my parents to read. My dad is one of the first people who reads my blog every time I write, so I sort of write like I'm writing for him. I'm not afraid to swear, speak my mind and admit my flaws, but I wouldn't write anything super vulgar or rude. I also definitely filter my writing about my clients. Even if they're not blog readers, I always assume they will read what I write. I usually work with people who have a sense of humor, but I would never insult anyone outright.

I think your writing is interesting and I like your blog. But really, YOU have to like it for it to be something you want to do regularly. So I think you're right in experimenting with style and injecting some of your personality into it. You certainly have plenty of personality to dole out! :D
